It wasn't in God's plan for Chris Quinn to keep the hospital open

It all went wrong for Quinn. Rather than seeking a continuation of the Bloomberg Administration, Democratic primary voters turned against the Mayor and began to agitate for a major break from his style of leadership. Suddenly Quinn found herself strapped to the hull of a sinking political ship. While de Blasio was blasting Bloomberg’s policies as favoring the one percent at the expense of the average New Yorker, Quinn was slowly but surely realizing that she nAnd looking back: For one of the many who tried and failed to succeed Mayor Bloomberg, the soul-searching continues... with an eye on the heavens: Three months after she failed to win the Democratic primary for mayor, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is still struggling to understand what happened, even as she tries to move on. “I really believe that everything happens for a reason,” Quinn told our Annie Karni in an exclusive sitdown, sipping coffee at a Chelsea diner. “It’s not my plan, but I really believe this is Gd’s plan.” Could her future hold a role in a Hillary Clinton 2016 run?

Council prepares to trump mayor on political-influence law(New York World) Following Bloomberg veto, council readies rollback of campaign-spending disclosure ruleAs early as Wednesday, the City Council will vote to override the mayor’s veto of legislation that will roll back disclosure rules for groups that seek to influence elections. If the council successfully overturns the veto, companies, unions and other membership groups will no longer have to disclose the money they spend advocating for or against a candidate, as long as their communications only target their own ranks. March 13, 2013 — Today’s vote by the City Council will weaken the City’s strong disclosure requirements for independent expenditures. It will deprive voters of complete information about spending by outside groups in New York City elections. We are disappointed that the Council has chosen to override Mayor Bloomberg’s veto.

NYP Prases Quinn for Not Pandering to the Crowd
Quinn’s trash talk(NYP)With the 2013 mayoral race quickly turning into a test of which candidate can outpander the competition, it’s news when one stands up for principle. That’s just what City Council Speaker Chris Quinn did last weekend, when she refused to back down from her support for an East Side waste-transfer station. The speaker and four other Democratic wannabes faced a crowd of locals hoping to block plans for the facility based on typical Not in My Back Yard concerns. Not one of the other candidates had the spine to back the station. Instead, they resorted to weasel words, half-promises and even sympathy for the residents’ position.* A Vote on Sick Leave(NYT Ed) Speaker Christine Quinn of the City Council continues to block a vote on paid sick leave, prompting Gloria Steinem to threaten to withdraw her backing in the mayor’s race. 2/2/2013 Quinn the Acting Koch
Koch personality was in his DNAHe was realy you nutty uncle.  Quinn is trying to Kochlike through her consultants, acting teachers and big daddy Bloomberg.  New Yorkers witness Quinn's real presonality when she served as the mayor's puppet during her years as speaker. There is no candidate among the current crop of mayoral contenders who obviously fits that description of "Larger than Life". But Christine Quinn seemed to make a bid for it this week, beginning with that memorable New York cover, followed by her actually very sporting reaction to what a more self-serious or attention-hungry candidate might have blown into a very stupid controversy.

  What About Quinn's Tool Box

We do not understand why the news breaks up all the tools that Quinn uses to control and payoff councilmembers. Including: Member items (remember Seabrook and the slush fund), redistricting (almost all incumbents who can run got good districts, Quinn made other deals with political leaders all over the city).

Quinn’s funny money(NYDN) About half of the City Council’s 51 members say they disagree with Speaker Christine Quinn’s blatantly wrong practice of giving cash bonuses, called lulus, to favored members. The lulus, in theory assigned for committee chairmanships and the like, range from the yearly $28,500 Quinn pockets down to $4,000. That’s over and above the very healthy $112,500 the pols earn in salary for their part-time positions.

Quinn Also Rush to Raise Funds in 2008 Before Campaign Reforms and Term Limits Change
New York Candidates Awash in Real Estate Cash(NYT)
The real estate industry, racing to beat strict new limits on campaign contributions, has been flooding New York City candidates with donations for the 2009 campaign at a rate three and four times that in previous election cycles.  The companies together had given more than $1 million by Jan. 15, the most recent reporting deadline for the 2009 election. Those same firms had given $239,000 by the same point in January 2004 and $348,000 by January 2000. The surge is driven in large part by a major overhaul in the city’s campaign finance law, which, starting this month, will cap contributions for people who do business with the city at less than a tenth of what is allowed now. That means many developers, brokers, landlords and contractors will be limited to giving $400 to a mayoral candidate, compared with $4,950 now. The major real estate firms examined by The Times are spreading money generously and in similar amounts to those considered the leading contenders for mayor: Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, Representative Anthony D. Weiner and City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr., with Ms. Quinn collecting the most of the three.

As Quinn Trades Away Council Lines for Political Support From the White County Leaders Minorities District Get Cut
A controversial proposal to re-draw New York City Council district lines could violate the city charter and split African-American and Latino communities, critics say. Community Voices Heard--an organization that advocates for low-income New Yorkers--said in a statement that the proposed redistricting map would create smaller Council districts in the Bronx and Queens in favor of larger ones in Manhattan and possibly disenfranchise some voting blocs, such as East Harlem. Under the proposal, East Harlem would be divided roughly in half, with part of it falling in Council District 8, and part in Council District 9. "When you look at communities of interest and keeping the Latino vote together and the African-American vote together, it seems like the Latino vote here, while on paper would hit the fifty percent plus-one mark that meets the Department of Justice standards, would break up the community in East Harlem," the organization said in a statement. Hearings will be held all month, allowing the public to comment on the proposed changes, followed by an up-or-down vote by the City Council in November. If approved, the maps will first be used in the 2013 citywide elections, when the majority of the Council's seats will be up for grabs because of term limits.

NYT Reader Shane Ustice whose comment was recorded under the NYT story Quinn’s Friendship With Lobbyist May Pose Test in Mayor Bid
said:  "Boss Quinn and her office would direct non-profits to Ms . Giske's office for representation in funding applications from the City and the State. Many but not all of these directed clients were non-profits for the Gay etc Community. Giske became for a fee the go to lobbyist for these non-profits seeking funding from the City." NYT Reader John M. said: "Many of us in the lgbt community know that both Quinn and Giske are part of a political machine horror show." NYT Reader Tony Glover said: "The issue is that a very powerful lobbyist, with clients who depend on the city for major funding, is helping Ms. Quinn to become mayor." Another reader pointed out how Quinn makes alliances with other machines by providing them jobs in return for political support.  She hired a disbarred lawyer from kruger's Thomas Jefferson Club in Brooklyn and hired dozens from Crowley's Queens machine.

In 1993 NYT Called Using Government Money to run for off "The New Age Political Machine"
What the NYT Said in 1993:  "In struggling neighborhoods from the northeast Bronx to southeast Queens, a new sort of political warlord is walking the ground that once belonged to the powerful Democratic county bosses in New York City. And none is more successful than a Brooklyn Assemblyman who is scarcely known outside political circles or his own dilapidated Bushwick neighborhood: Vito J. Lopez.Over 17 years of near obscurity, Mr. Lopez has built the prototype of the modern inner-city political machine, one capable of generating thousands of votes and armies of volunteers, largely by exploiting its links to a social-service organization that Mr. Lopez founded." The NYT'S reporter in 2012 did not write how Quinn makes alliances with other corrupt new age political machines by funding them with millions in member item $$$. The speaker is currently funding Lopez under federal investigation and Seabrook getting ready for his retrial for ripping off govenment funds.

In 2012 the NYT Said  Described A New Aged Political Machine But Failed to Call It That, In An Attempt To Clean Up Their Obvious Choice to Be the Next Mayor
The NYT said Quinn and other council members have directed hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofit organizations that Giske's Bolton-St. Johns represents.  But they did not do what they did with John Liu and identify how many contributions Quinn campaign received from those nonprofits. We do know that Quinn has gotten tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars from the developers who benefited from the Highline which Quinn funded and Giske lobbied for.  Or the contributions Quinn received from other Giske clients.

Giske could go into a party caucus wearing her state party official hat and behind the door power-broke for her clients."  Other readers pointed how how Quinn handles patronage.  when she takes over she fires all that she can and hires those loyal to herself and her friends.  Another readers wrote about the called lobbyist Giske Quinn's "consigliere.:  The reader continued "While their sexual orientation and gender has little to do with their quest for power and Quinn's evolution into Boss Quinn , these two women certainly prove sisterhood is powerful in their quest to turf like men in the political arena . NYT Reader John M Said: When Quinn was the executive director of the NYC Gay & Lesbian Anti-Violence project, she fired or harassed out the longtime professional staff who had built the organization and hired grad students who were the lovers of board members and big donors, none of whom knew squat about bias violence, domestic violence or anything useful except those with big check books.

If there's a corrupt and/or self-serving strategic play, one can count on Christine Quinn to pursue it. Is Ms. Giske the "mechanic" behind that? Let's just hope there's a desk for Quinn at Bolton-St. John's when Quinn loses the election to more ethical candidates who had the good grace to serve their two terms and then go, as the people deemed appropriate.

Quinn Fix What I Caused

All the new programs called for in her speech yesterday could have been implemented by her any time during the last six years when she has served as council speaker.  The NYT quited her as saying “Slumlords will have to spend real money and fix the real problem, or we’ll haul them into housing court,” she said. But the NYT did not ask Quinn what stop her from forcing them into court as a councilmember or housing activist her first job on the government payroll? In fact you can say that the problems she outlined yesterday were caused by her poor leadership during her rule as speaker.

Ms. Quinn did not talk about the major problems facing NYC, like rising costs of pension, budget cuts, education failures, loss of obs and business leaving because of the high cost of doing business here.  What she did offer was limited solutions to problems which would effect less that .001% of New Yorkers on chronic unemployment and  housing, education and health care. * Mayor Bloomberg said Quinn’s mandatory Kindergarten idea would cost $30 million.

A Tale of Two Reporters: Chen Kisses Quinn Ass While Errol Lewis Attacks

While the NYT Chen and Taylor did the usual kiss Quinn Ass story we expect from the Times which is trying to lead the speaker 2013 campaign, NY1 Errol Lewis was loaded for bear when he interview her yesterday.  Why Lewis the normally professional reporter who is not know for his hard hitting interviews turned on Quinn can perhaps be found in his politics but we will lever that part for another day. Council Speaker Previews Bid for Mayor in Address(NYT) *NY1 Online: Speaker Quinn’s Vision For New York City * Christine Quinn Distances Herself from Mayor in State of the City Address(DNA Info)

Round #1  Slowing opening up on Quinn Lewis asked if she had any concerns that changing rent restrictions from 30 to 60 years would drive away developers from building new housing. (you can see and hear the speaker get upset as she cleared her throat why answering the question).

Round # 2  Lewis asked where is the money coming from to fix one hundreds thousand repairs? Quinn said ten million would come from the capital budget.  (Quinn cleared her throat again). Lewis then followed her talk to the head of the housing authority who said his agency is multi-billion behind in their capital budget.  Quinn responded that the authority must do better with less and get more money out of Washington. Washington - Federal Cuts Could Hit NYC Housing Agencies(2011)

Round #3  Require 5 years old to attend school.  Lewis says 2000 kids last year could not get into kindergarten and what Quinn is asking for is an unfunded mandate. Quinn get the birth certificates to do better planning so the board can take all the kids.  She says the DOE says it can talk all the kids but we know they can't.  Lewis says someone can be assigned to the united nations for six months and not think it is important to send their kid to school or developmental issues.  Lewis asks Quinn if she is comfortable if a cop or sheriff come to a parents door to bring their kid to school.  Quinn says people have the option to home school. Says early  childhood education is the key to success.  Lewis says should we have hearings before we commit. Quinn says you have to do legislation in Albany.

Lewis did not ask any questions beyond the speech

Round #4  Quinn want to pass a human rights law to make it illegal to discrimine against someone who is long time unemployed. Lewis regular employment job applications asks for past job experience.  Employment can change overnight, not really a class of people.

Round #5  Lewis you gave shout outs to 30 council member who did not get mentioned and and why?  Quinn I do not know.

Round #6 The Mayor talk about firehouse closing, day care slots to be lost because we a low on money? Quinn says she will respond in march on those issues when the budget is due.

Showing No Moral Leadership Quinn Continues to Fund Seabrook

NYT  Interview Become A Quinn Mayoral Spin

Quinn Ignores the demands of the NYP, Daily News and mayoral candidate Tom Allon that she not fund Seabrook's member items until his retrial for using the funds for himself, family members and his girlfriend.  NYT reporter Kate Taylor did not ask Quinn any questions about if it war morally right to give government funds to someone who distributed them to his family and mistress.

Taylor was satisfied with Quinn's spin that her reforms would that from happening again.  Taylor could have also asked Quinn if it was right to fund Vito Lopez's political machine the Bushwich Senior Citizen Center with member items $$$.  Taylor show how the NYT is spinning for Quinn when she ask the speaker about what she would do to end the deadlock between the teacher union and the city.  Quinn answers that she would lock them a room until they came up with a solution, not what her policy would be on teacher evaluations.  Where is the leaderships Quinn Stands Behind Decision on Seabrook Funds (NYT)

She then hired a disbarred attorney, according to a wonderful article written by Tom Robbins.

Christine Quinn has a clear history of putting her own political ambitions above the needs of her constituents.. It is well documented. Her relationship with Giske, a high six figure power-broker and lobbyist just highlights her outstretched hand to anyone who will grease it with either dollars or support. Giske is one of the scandal’s of the old style political machinery that still runs the city despite all the Obama talk of a new transparent Democratic party. What the article does not say is that Giske also, despite being a full time lobbyist was VP of the State Democratic Party. Giske could go into a party caucus wearing her state party official hat and behind the door power-broke for her clients. Boss Quinn and her office would direct non-profits to Ms . She hired the most unqualified and corrupt hacks imaginable. I watched her fire approximately sixty people in one day.

Or the closing of St Vincent's or Quinn's refusal to step up and fight for a hospital on the West Side. Her funneling of $10 million to Long Island Jewish Hospital for a now underused urgent care on 20th street and from day one of the St. Vincent's bankruptcy her support of the Rudin Real Estate Corporations plan to build luxury condos and replace a real hospital with a profit incentive Urgent Care faux hospital, with only two 23 hour holding bed, that will shuttle critically ill patients to hospitals way across town. Savvy political people have always know that her chief consigliere is has always been Emily Giske, not the Mayor. Quinn was trained in the strongest political machine since Carmine Desapio era run by the late Donald Manes of Queens. She learnt well how to bully and punish City Council members who do not do her bidding and to turn on constituents who want her to do some about the destruction of Greenwich Village by her financial supporters the developers. She and her operatives destroyed the fiercely independent GLID and historically progressive VID Democratic clubs in her setup for a mayoral run. With Giske always in the background or just upstairs from Quinn's rent stabilized apartment until Quinn moved late last year into a million dollar condo in Chelsea to seek advice from. Just ask any of the residents of her City Council district how they feel about her silence and refusal to meet with the residents on issues that affected her district. The dumping of garbage right next to the Hudson Park Trust children's playground. How she brought in Al Sharpton to lecture the mom;s on racism . Her silent backroom support of everything called NYU despite her public outrage.

Hundreds of New Yorkers, gay and straight, have been protesting Christine Quinn since 2009 in part because of Christine Quinn's corruption - from allocating millions of dollars to fake charities in the city budget and doling them out in exchange for political favors to using City Council staffers to petition for her in the last election to accepting and/or soliciting tens of thousands of dollars from real estate developers and union representatives who have current business in front of the City Council. Emily Giske, who we have seen at many of the events where we are protesting against Quinn, is one small component of an extensive pattern of budget and campaign corruption. And Quinn's corruption is only one small reason why so many people are taking to the streets to vote Christine Quinn out of public office. On youtube, see "Christine Quinn: Behind the Smile"

"Ms. Giske has ridden to events with Ms. Quinn in the speaker’s city-provided car, a courtesy permitted under a ruling by the city’s ethics board." What isn't permitted by the city's ethic's board these days? The words "city" and "ethics" are an oxymoron most especially in NYC government which is why we are awaiting the perpetually delayed pre-trial of CityTime Scandal trial. Reminder city council person Tish James brought force two investigations in to CityTime brushed aside by Christine Quinn when it was simply math that CityTime was "The Tax Payer's Titanic. Christine Quinn allowed a hospital to be converted in to luxury condos and did not demand Amanda the People's Burden commissioner of City Planning give us zoning protection for a hospital only. Thank you for exposing Christine Quinn and her special friendship that pays, Ms. Giske.

Christine Quinn was, is and always will be self-serving in the extreme. Frankly none of those representing the West Village have served us very well. They have been so focused on their own agendas that they watched and did nothing as we lost our only hospital, as affordable housing disappeared, as transportation disappeared (buses run every 20 mins) and bike paths caused unconscionable traffic jams (#11 bus from 12th St to 37th at rush hour, 52 1/2 minutes!). It is time these political LGBTs (Quinn, Duane, Glick please note) started representing their straight constituents too! I wouldn't vote for Quinn for dog catcher - let her go kiss Bloomberg's a__ __! Oops, she's already doing that.

She gave 11 million dollars to the gay and lesbian center on 13th street all in one fell swoop then gave them more millions for so called repairs to the building and the money to buy and take off the tax rolls the building next door.
She's papered the walls with money for this self controlled vote getting machine that goes under the guise of a lesbian and gay community center but, only a select few gays and lesbians can go there.
That's the ones who can afford to more than pay their way also.
If you're going to tell the story then tell the story.
It's all there for any reporter to write about.
And it's not just about an ego rubbing relationship between two greedy women as pictured here in this article.
It's about a rude and arrogant power driven egomaniac who wants everyone to allow her complete control to rule the roost as she sees fit, and for her own benefit.
Nobody likes Christine Quinn and she and the others of us will find that out for sure when she's city wide in asking for votes, and not just the council district that she's been extorting votes from all these years to keep her in public office!

The NY Times article is much to do about nothing! If Council President Quinn was a male and one of his buddies or school mates was now a high powered lobbyist, no one would say a word nor would the NY Times be writing a story.

The issue is that a very powerful lobbyist, with clients who depend on the city for major funding, is helping Ms. Quinn to become mayor. I would want to know about this regardless of the gender of the mayor or the lobbyist. If an investigative newspaper does not scrutinize this relationship, it is not doing its job. Investigating such relationships has been common for our male mayors. Staffers and advisors to Koch, Dinkins, Giuliani and Bloomberg have been scrutinized on this issue. It should be just as common for potential female mayors.

Quinn, who represents CHelsea on the NYC Council, has failed on most major issues facing her neighbors: St. Vincents Hospital closing, BRC Mega Homeless Shelter on West 25th STreet, School redistricting, etc.

Esp. on the BRC Homeless Shelter, Quinn knew about their plans in early 2010 and kept the information secret as did the Community Board 4 so that by the times the families and businesses on West 25th and surrounding streets found out in an article in the WSJ, the deal was already set in stone. Not only is the shelter against zoning codes, it is against NYC restrictions on mega shelters, and was completely opposed by the neighborhood. Quinn wouldn't even raise a finger to protest until over a year later in a mean letter to the courts.

St. Vincents was the last major healthcare facility in Chelsea and the VIllage. It's closure left a huge gap in providing emergency care to citizens of NYC. Quinn just stood by.

Quinn is one of the primary reasons why I sold my apartment in CHelsea and left NYC. I prefer to leave in a progressive democracy, not a place run by party insiders and big money. Quinn is no different than Bloomberg. And as a gay man, Quinn is an embarrasement to the LGBT community.

Let's not forget the financial scandal Quinn admitted to, that of maintaining a "slush fund" to pay off retired and losing Democrat politicians with taxpayer money, in order to keep the political peace with them. Quinn, of course, was "shocked....SHOCKED..." to find that this "fund" was maintained in her office right under her nose. What was worse, Bloomberg came out and supported the fund (again, made up of taxpayer money) as the cost of doing business.

In any respect, if elected mayor, I hope Ms. Quinn is prepared to take over a city on the verge of a 1975-type collapse, assuming the mantel of a 21st Century Abe Beame, after an elitists John Lindsay-type mayor, Mike Bloomberg.

I don't have a view as to whether Ms. Quinn would be a good mayor or a bad mayor, but this article is about a total irrelevancy. She has friends and one of them is a lobbyist, but the article does not reveal anything to suggest that either of them has acted improperly.

So, why should we care.

Quinn, who is likely running for mayor, says she knew that the use of the funds - which are now the subject of federal and city investigations - could be helpful to her. "Did I think, as a speaker, having the [reserve] money to give out through the year might give me political leverage? Of course, I did," Quinn told New York magazine for its current edition. Daily News Reporter Erin Einhorn Accepts Tainted Spin Doctors Guma Word

"A Quinn campaign spokesman said the money she earmarks has nothing to do with campaign donations. "Speaker Quinn supports nonprofits and other groups based solely on two criteria: the quality of the organization and the importance of the work they do," spokesman Mark Guma said.

Mark Guma is the former partner of Hank Morris.  Before Morris when to jail he and Guma contributed money to the Governor of New Mexico who somehow give pension funds to Morris and his partner Steve Ratner.  Guma also forgave some of the campaign funds he was owed by the Manhattan DA.  Guma wife worked for Bloomberg campaign along with Haggerty who DA Vance has indicted for stealing a million from the mayor.  What Einhorn should have ask Guma was why is the city still paying for Quinn lawyer and lawyers for the entire city council for a three year old slush fund investigation which was all about pay to play member items.

Closing St. Vincents Hospital
Hey NYT What Does the Middle Look Like to Someone Needing A Hospital?

If your ask someone who counted on St Vincent (every one of us) about Quinn silence during the closing of the hospital they would say the argument the NYT is making that the speakers is moving to the middle is irrelevant to their life.  If your ask the developer Rudin who co-workers have already contributed $30,000 to Quinn mayoral campaign and will make $$$ converting St. Vincent's Hospital to co-ops; he would say its great that Quinn is moving to the middle because he knows the NYT is on his team and positioning Quinn to give her the best chance at getting elected. It clear she has gotten the support of the business community.  What the reader does not understand is the the NYT is looking for ways to get her elected. The NYT writer David Chen just happens to find a senior who explained his theory that Quinn was moving towards the center.  " Mr. Bright (The Senior) confessed that he had not much cared for her at first. But “she grew on me over time,” he said, because “a lot of the politicians read from the script. She just says what she believes, even when I don’t agree.”  What a BS. and staged interview by Mr. Chen. I wonder how many people he had to talk to until he got a senior to explain his middle crap.

Orwellian Society Quinn: To Opposes is Radical
It was the publisher of the NYT along with the NYP and Daily News that used their papers to support changing the term limits law to allow Bloomberg and Quinn to run for a third term.  Mr. Chen does not challenge Quinn when she brushes off her term limits and other critics as naïve' ideologues.  So if your upset with the corruption of Citytime which Quinn worked hard to ignored; as the mayor push until the U.S. Attorney indicted his workers calling it the largest municipal crime in city history, your a radical.  If you upset with Bloomberg pick of Cathy Black which Quinn did not oppose, to run the schools your Abby Hoffman?  If your a black living in Brooklyn and you think Quinn and the mayor cater to Manhattan and the developers who are pushing you race out of Bedford–Stuyvesant your Malcolm X.

NYT: What City Council Slush Fund Investigation
Mr. Chen talks about Quinn having lunch with Rchard D. Parsons, the Citigroup chairman and says her fans call her matured as a citywide official.  Nowhere does the NYT Reporter Mr. Chen ask a New Yorker looking for a job if he thinks Quinn has matured.  Mr. Chen does not ask Quinn what she has done about the thousands of manufacturing jobs and business that have left the city over the time she has been in the council.  Mr. Chen did not ask Quinn how she will replace the coming losses of jobs on Wall Street which makes so much of our tax base. The reader is left wondering how Quinn who has never had a private sector job would know hot to rebuild the city's jobs base.  It clear the business community is not supporter her for her expertise. It must be her willingness to follow their directions.

Quinn Funds Lopez During Fed Investigation
Mr. Chen did not ask Quinn why city tax payers still pay for lawyers for her and the other council members to defend them against a three year old slush fund investigation.  Mr. Chen did not ask Quinn why she gave millions in member item money to Vito Lopez's Bushwich Senior Citizen organization which run his political operation and is under federal investigation. Mr. Chen did not ask Quinn about the CityTime Scandal the Black pick or the city's high unemployment race.  He did talk about the time in college she dressed as a duck. Sock Puppet Kicks Can Down the Road

Quinn opponents call her Bloomberg puppet.  She said when she opposed the mayor by saving teacher jobs and prevented fire houses from being closed she proved she is her own person.  What Mr. Chen does not point out or understand that with the serious financial structural problems (pensions, falling state and federal funds, the loss cops and firefighters) facing the city government, all Quinn did was work by her puppet master )who is supporting her for mayor) was to kick the can down the road.  Restoring services does give her a good issue to run on. Team Quinn: the NYT and the business community understand and will milk it to elect her the next mayor.  Edging to Center, Her Eye on the Mayoral Race(NYT) * Adam Lisberg City Hall News On Christine Quinn Reverts Back to Phony P.R. Why Does Quinn and the City Council Keep Funding the Brooklyn Bosses Vito's Non Profit Political Machine?

Does Quin and the Other Mayor Candidates Believe in Smoke and Mirror's Vito or Fact?

In 2009 Lopez candidate David Yassky for comptroller lost to ethically challenged Liu.  In 2010 Lopez candidate  Kathleen M. Rice Nassau DA from AG lost to Schneiderman.  Lopez also lost both of his Surrogate Court Judgeships countywide. Lopez does along with the other county leaders control the NYC Board of Elections which came handy in 2009 to de Blasio when the BOE knocked him off the ballot for petition filing problems. Candidates without de Blasio connections to the BOE stay off the ballot for those type of problems.

The Wedding Candidate

The Politics of One Gay Marriage (NY Magazine) Quinn’s calculus. Christine Quinn is the early favorite in the 2013 mayor’s race, so her State of the City speech this week drew extra media scrutiny. But that will be dwarfed by the attention paid to the next big event in the City Council speaker’s life. “The wedding,” groans a strategist for a mayoral rival. “The Times will do a front-page story about her shopping for dresses. The other papers will write about the guest list, the honeymoon. It will be huge, and there’s nothing we can do to compete with it.”

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn plans to return $2,000 from convicted felons after The Post questioned the campaign cash she was holding in her probable run for mayor. Her 2013 campaign will give back a $1,000 donation from Ponzi schemer Kenneth Starr, formerly of Starr & Co., but is keeping $10,000 from his associates, Quinn spokesman Mark Guma said. The Quinn camp also plans to return a $1,000 gift from Hassan Nemazee, a former businessman and Democratic donor who pleaded guilty in 2010 to defrauding banks of $292 million, but the campaign will keep a $1,000 donation from his wife. Christine Quinn is returning some questionable donations, but keeping donations from those donors’ associates.
