Queens BP

Flake Hard Balls Comrie
"It was a learning experience." Ouch
Councilman Leroy Comrie‘s campaign is in an awkward position after disputing influential Rev. Floyd Flake‘s endorsement of rival Queens borough president candidate Melinda Katz: “The councilman told TimesLedger Newspapers that he had a meeting with Flake Monday afternoon and the reverend said then his mind was not made up about whom he would endorse.” Or, as Mr. Comrie explained it, “It’s a learning experience.”

Leroy's rolling in it(Queens Crap)

From the Times Ledger:City Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans), chairman of the Council’s powerful Land Use Committee, has drawn some interest from real estate industry donors in his campaign for borough president. Comrie’s financial disclosure for the race was filed nine days late with the City Campaign Finance Board, due to what the councilman said was a technical difficulty. The results now show he received about 17 percent of his donations from the real estate sector, the second-highest percentage of candidates in the race. The borough president has an advisory role in zoning, variance and land use applications in the borough.

From the Times Ledger: One of the powers entrusted to a borough president is to review and make recommendations on land use applications for development projects in Queens.  The real estate industry has been backing certain candidates in the race to replace current Borough President Helen Marshall, and it seems to be firmly behind former Democratic Councilwoman Melinda Katz, according to an analysis of campaign finance data from the city Campaign Finance Board.
